Recap:  Day 2--IHSA State Finals

Alex Dudley became Oswego East High School's first All-State sprinter with her 8th place effort at Saturday's IHSA State Track and Field Meet. 


Dudley's time of 12.34 was fast enough to make her the 8th fastest sprinter in the state of Illinois in 2013.  Congratulations, Alex!!!

Recap:  Day I--IHSA State Prelims

Day 1 of the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Finals got off to a strong start with Morganne Jones clearing the opening height of 5'0" on her first attempt.  Jones then cleared 5'2" on her second attempt.  At her third attempt at 5'4", Jones was close to a personal best but knocked the bar off.  5'4" proved to be the height needed in order to make the final day of competition. 


In the sprint events, Alex Dudley made school history in the 100 meter dash by qualifying for Saturday's finals and earning a spot on the podium.  She came back to run the 200 meter dash later in the meet, but was unable to make the final cutoff.

Recap:  IHSA Sectional at Plainfield North (May 9, 2013)

The Oswego East Girls Track and Field Team placed sixth of 15 teams at the Plainfield North Sectional!  Qualifying for next week's IHSA State Finals in Charleston, Illinois were senior Alex Dudley and sophomore Morganne Jones.  Dudley placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.32.  She then came back to win her first sectional title in the 200 meter dash, winning in a time of 25.41.  Jones jumped the State-Qualifying standard of 5'3" in the High Jump, earning her first trip down state as well. 


Other notable finishes include Emily Flammersfeld, who placed sixth in the Triple Jump with a personal-best mark of 33'9.25".  Morganne Jones finished third in the 100 meter hurdles and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, securing another school record in 49.91.  Both Mackenzie Kennedy and Alayna Dieter pole vaulted past the school record.  Kennedy cleared 7'9", while Dieter cleared two more heights to secure the school record at 8'9".  The 4x400 meter relay team of Sajela Harlow, Madi Timken, Ashley Buado, and Madison Boissiere placed sixth in 4:20.23.  The 4x100 meter relay team of Adriana Rodriguez, Nicole Buado, Bri Duarte, and Brooke Marshall also took sixth in 51.78.  Other top-ten finishes include Michelle Borycki in the 1600 (5:33.56) and Andrea Holm in the 800 (2:25.54). 


Recap:  SPC Conference Championships (May 2, 2013)

The Oswego East Wolves battled cold, rain, and wind Thursday, May 2 to earn a third place finish at the Southwest Prairie Conference Championships!  Going 

into competition, the Wolves were seeded fifth out of the eight conference opponents. 


The Wolves were led by senior Alex Dudley, who placed 3rd in  the 400, 2nd in the 200, and 2nd in the 100, to earn All-Conference honors in all three races.  Andrea Holm placed 4th in the 800, and Michelle Borycki took  4th in the 1600, both earning All-Conference.  Morganne Jones placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles and won the high jump, earning All-Conference recognition for the second year in a row.  Sade Akinfe and Emily Flammersfeld each earned their first All-Conference honor with fourth places in the horizontal jumps--Akinfe in the long jump and Flammersfeld in the triple jump.  Rachael Walker tied for 4th place in the high jump. 


For the first time  in conference competition, Oswego East scored a point in the pole vault.  Alayna Dieter cleared 7-6" and also grabbed the school record with her performance. 


Congratulations, girls, on a great end to the regular season!   Next up:   The IHSA Sectional at Plainfield North on Thursday, May 9. 


Recap:  Oswego East at Glenbard North's Weber Invitational (April 26, 2013)

The Oswego East Girls Track and Field Team recorded dozens of personal bests on Friday night at Glenbard North's Weber Invitational.  The Wolves placed 5th of

8  teams.  Senior Alex Dudley captured a school record and second place finish in  the 400 meter dash, with a time of 59.37.  She also won the 100 meter dash

in  12.69.  Morganne Jones was the other event winner, taking the high jump title at  5'1.  Jones beat her own school record in the 100 meter hurdles, taking second  in 15.46.  The 4x400 relay team of Andrea Holm, Madeline Timken, Sajela Harlow,  and Alex Dudley placed second with a season-best time of 4:14.56.  Rachael  Walker placed third in the high jump (4'11). 


On the JV level, the Wolves placed 3rd.  Event winners were Maryann Lualhati (200 meter dash) and Madison Boissiere (800 meter run).  Ashley Buado and Faith King finished second in the 400 meter dash and shot put, respectively.  


Recap:  Oswego East vs. Minooka, Plainfield South (April 2, 2013)

The Girls Track and Field Team started its outdoor season on April 2 against Minooka and Plainfield South at home.  The Wolves took 2nd to Minooka on the Varsity level and 3rd to both teams on the JV level. 


In Varsity competition, first place finishes for the Wolves came from Brittany Davis (Discus), Rachael Walker (High Jump), Morganne Jones (100 hurdles), and Alex Dudley (100 meter dash and 200 meter dash).  Brooke Marshall took second in the Long Jump, along with the 4x800 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay.  Third place finishes came from Brittany Davis (Shot Put), Madeline Timken (Triple Jump), and Katelynn Kuehl (400 meter dash).  


On the JV level, Alexia Stamas provided a first-place finish for the Wolves, winning the triple jump.  The 4x800 meter relay and 4x200 meter relays each placed second.  Placing  third were Sade Akinfe (100 meter dash), Haley Gibson (400 meter dash) and Kala Green (200 meter dash).  


The Wolves are back in action on Saturday, April 6 at Kaneland's Jill Holmes Invitational.
