At Riverdale Ridge Theatre Company, we believe the most important part of any production isn’t what happens on stage—it’s what happens on the way there.
We prioritize process over product, focusing on how students grow through collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. Whether they’re performing, designing, building, or leading, students are encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and contribute meaningfully to the team.
The final performance is a celebration, but the real magic happens in rehearsal rooms, design meetings, late-night build sessions, and group reflections. It’s in these moments that students build confidence, community, and lifelong skills—on and off the stage.
Mainstage Productions
Mainstage Productions
Mainstage productions are the flagship shows of our theatre season. These are full scale productions with larger budgets, extended rehearsal schedules, and a focus on high-level collaboration. They are often selective and competitive, with auditions and interviews determining company placement.
Mainstage productions are:
managed and directed by adult staff
larger in scale — bigger sets, lighting, sound, costumes, and audience reach
rehearsed over a longer period, often 8–12 weeks
designed for excellence — we often submit them for festivals or competition
open to dedicated students in both performance and technical roles
Green Room Productions
Green Room Productions
Green Room Productions are our student-led shows—created, directed, designed, and managed by students with adult support in the background. These productions offer a chance to experiment, collaborate, and take creative risks in a more flexible, low-stakes environment.
Green Room shows are:
run by students, with mentorship from adult staff
smaller in scale with shorter rehearsal periods
a great way to try something new, step into leadership, or test out a new role
inclusive and welcoming, with opportunities for a wider range of experience levels
often feature original work or less traditional material

Troupe 8780 is the honors side of the Riverdale Ridge Theatre Company. It is the place where all the hard work, creativity, and love for theatre gets recognized and celebrated! Whether you act, design, build, or run things behind the scenes, this is where your dedication to theatre shines!
