I am absolutely thrilled to be your 4th-grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year! My name is Mrs. Larabee, and I can't wait to embark on this incredible learning adventure together!
This year is going to be filled with exciting discoveries, new friendships, creative projects, and that wonderful feeling we get from earning success after working hard toward goals! We'll explore amazing books, solve cool math problems, become stronger writers, conduct awesome science experiments, and learn all about OUR Idaho.
I believe every single one of you is special and capable of amazing things. Our classroom will be a safe, welcoming place where we support each other, have strong discussions about each subject, and grow together as learners and members of our classroom community.
About me:
I have been supporting students in schools in various roles for 10 years, and this is my 4th year at MTE. I was born and raised here in North Idaho, and I'm pleased to raise a family here with my husband, Jeff. Our daughter Kaitlin is in 9th grade this year, and our son Aiden is a senior. I live in Rathdrum, but Post Falls is where I want to teach! The culture here in our district is like no other, and that's especially true of our Mullan Trail Elementary. Working with the team here in our building has inspired me to find even more ways to serve the students in our care. Because of that inspiration, I am currently working toward a Master's in Educational Leadership. That degree will qualify me for a position as a Principal, but I am not in any hurry. My priority this year is teaching my favorite grade level!
I believe that all students can learn and that they rise up to challenges when they believe in themselves. I expect every student in our classroom to be kind to the other learners in our room and in our building. I strive to be clear with my expectations while being fair and consistent so that both positive and negative consequences are predictable. I get excited about each subject and I delight in guiding students to become stronger thinkers who can face a mistake, figure out what tricked them, and then try again. I look for the strengths each student has, and I celebrate those things.
I value the adults in my students' lives, and I enjoy getting to know about your families. I am curious and want to know more about all of you, and I promise that I will assume the best of all of you right from the start. I'm so eager to see what adventures are ahead this year!

(I will get your request to connect with your child's name when you use this link. I will compare your information to the information on skyward, and then approve the connection when it matches. We are using Dojo as a whole school this year.)
The curriculum we will be using this year is shown below. Many of your learners already know how to access their Clever account when they need to, but any students who do not will have help to learn how. Amira is new this year and will be used for reading assessments for the state instead of Istation.
