Who can join?
Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student at Roselle Middle School.
What are the expectations?
You must attend all practices and games. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let your coach know right away.
The D12 Athletic Contract will be followed as showing respect and a high level of positive sportsmanship is required.
Tryout Information:
All students trying out for the team must have an updated physical on file with our school nurse.
Please wear a white shirt, black bottoms and white gym shoes.
2025-2026 tryout dates are as follows: TBD. (you may leave after your try-out time)
Please sign up on the sign-up list in PE (see Mrs. Kopp if you cannot find the list).
Tryout Expectations
Every participant will need to try out for the team, regardless if you were part of the program last year. All grade levels (6th, 7th and 8th) are invited to try out.
Try out attire should include black bottoms (shorts/leggings), white shirts and white gym shoes. Hair should be tied back. If you have a bow, wear one!
Judges will be scoring the following components of cheerleading: Jumps (toe-touch), Communication (loud voice, positive facials, etc.), Motion Technique (sharp motions, wrists appropriately placed), Overall Presence (try out attire, energy, etc.) and Dance (rhythm, knowledge of steps). Tumbling (handspring, round-off back handspring, back tuck, etc.) is not a requirement but will be added to your final score, if you are able to showcase skills.
Clinic #1: TBD. You will learn one cheer, a toe touch jump, and a quick dance routine.
Clinic #2: TBD. You will perform the cheer and dance routine for the judges. Once your group has tried out, you are excused from the event.
The 2025-2026 team will be announced by email and on the RMS cheerleading website by TBD

The basketball season (first game) begins on TBD.
The first practice is scheduled on TBD.
When cheering at home/away games, you will be wearing uniforms, white shoes and a bow. During practices, you should wear your white cheer shoes and athletic clothing.
Season Expectations
Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00pm-5:30pm at RMS. (No practice on SMART Wednesdays). Our practices will take place in the cafeteria at RMS.
There are ten basketball games this year. Five are at home (Spring Hills Elementary) and five are away. Prior to the season beginning, a calendar will be given to all members of the team.
Attendance is mandatory at all practices, home and away games. If there is an extenuating circumstance and you are unable to attend, please let your coach know right away.
As of now, our program does plan to attend the Medinah cheerleading competition, which will take place at Lake Park West on TBD. More information to follow!
No jewelry is to be worn during games, practices or competitions, especially if you will be stunting and/or tumbling.
