RMS Cheerleading

Welcome to the RMS Cheerleading page!

Tryout clinic takes place on Monday November 30 from 3-4:30 in the cafeteria. Tryouts take place on Tuesday December 1 from 3-4:30, but you may leave after your tryout group is done. 

Who can join?

• Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student at Roselle Middle School.

What are the expectations?

• You must attend all practices and games. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let your coach know right away, as this impacts the competition routine.

• The D12 Athletic Contract will be followed as showing respect and a high level of positive sportsmanship is required.

Tryout Information:

• All students trying out for the team must have an updated physical on file with our school nurse that is good through February 2027.

• Please wear athletic clothing and hair in a pony tail to tryouts

• Try out Day 1: Monday November 30 from 3-4:30. You will learn one cheer, a toe touch jump, and a quick dance routine.

• Try out Day 2: Tuesday December 1 from 3-4:30. You will perform the cheer and dance routine for the judges. Once your group has tried out, you are excused from the event,

The 2026-27 team will be announced by email and on the RMS cheerleading website by 7pm on December 1.

• Judges will be scoring the following components of cheerleading: Jumps (toe-touch), Communication (loud voice, positive facials, etc.), Motion Technique (sharp motions, wrists appropriately placed), Overall Presence (try out attire, energy, etc.) and Dance (rhythm, knowledge of steps). Tumbling (handspring, round-off back handspring, back tuck, etc.) is not a requirement but will be added to your final score, if you are able to showcase skills.

Season Expectations

1. Practices will be held almost every day (excluding SMART days) from 3:00pm-5:30pm at RMS. Our practices will take place in the cafeteria at RMS. If you make the team a calendar will be shared.

2. There are ten basketball games. Five are at home (Spring Hills Elementary) and five are away. 

3. Attendance is mandatory at all practices, home and away games. If there is an extenuating circumstance and you are unable to attend, please let your coach know right away.

4. As of now, our program does plan to attend the Medinah cheerleading competition, which will take place at Lake Park on TBD. 

5. No jewelry is to be worn during games, practices or competitions, especially if you will be stunting and/or tumbling. And NO chewing gum at practices, games, or competition.

6. Fundraising: We are doing the Lou Malnati's frozen pizza fundraiser again. More info to come at practice.
