World History

Why Learn World History?


The purpose for this course is to engage students with the history of the world starting from the earliest forms of civilizations through the current events through the ideas set by historical thinking. The skills performed in this course will set the stage for student thinking throughout their high school career and beyond. These skills include and are not limited to: historical contextualization, analyzing multiple perspectives, literacy, exploration of vital themes and narratives of history, and much more. This class will be rigorous, however, each student will be equipped with the tools for future classes.


Essential Question:

Why do we bother to study/examine the past, present, and/or future? What are the recurrent motifs of History and in what ways have they changed or remained the same?
