Meet the Library Staff
Born and raised in Los Ángeles, Ms. Dancheva (Ms. D) is a proud first-generation college graduate. She earned her B.A. in English Literature and Education from UC Berkeley in 2011 and her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from San José State University in 2025. Ms. D is currently pursuing her National Board Certification in Library Media and has been accepted into Harvard University’s Ed.M. program. After teaching high school English and interdisciplinary courses for six years in East San José and Santa Clara, she transitioned to the role of school librarian to pursue her passion for fostering a love of reading and information seeking across the school community. Ms. D additionally serves as PTSA Secretary for Cabrillo Middle School. Outside of work, Ms. Dancheva enjoys reading, exploring nature, trying new food, listening to music, sipping iced lattes, and spending time with her family, friends, and her fur baby, Bowser.
Ms. Carlson finds joy in her close-knit family as a mother of three and grandmother of two, and she treasures the extended family connections in her life. A firm believer that music is a form of poetry, she especially loves concerts and the way music brings people together. Her love for reading developed over time through patience and perseverance. Having struggled with it as a child, she is living proof that determination leads to growth. Ms. Carlson is drawn to stories about unexpected friendships that grow into unbreakable bonds. Ms. Carlon's journey with Santa Clara Unified School District began in 2000. In 2020, during the pandemic, she moved into her current role helping run the Cabrillo Middle School Library. She takes pride in seeing students each day, assisting them with accessing materials, supporting their learning, and helping them prepare for high school as part of the Cabrillo family!
