Welcome to my elective class! 

The purpose of this class is to learn about three aspects of our world:

• SELF: Who we are as individuals. What is identity? How does a person’s identity change or stay the same over time? How does it influence how they see the world?

• Our COMMUNITY: What is community? Why is it important? Who we are on a local level, and on a global scale.

• The WORLD: how do we, along with our community, help shape and change our society?

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

• Daily assignments/in class activities graded for completion and participation

• One “signature assignment” or project per quarter

GRADING POLICY

Quarter Projects: 50%    

Each quarter there will be a long term research project that we work on individually and as a class.  Every project has a publishing or presentation component.

Daily/weekly assignments: 50%    

This is work completed in class. Students are expected to complete assignments during class time. 

Homework: No homework will be given, but students are expected to complete assignments and projects not finished in class.
