 Counseling Center
The John F. Kennedy High School Counseling Center is dedicated to supporting the success, growth, and well-being of all students. Our counselors provide guidance in academic planning, social and emotional development, and college and career readiness. We work closely with students to help them set goals, overcome challenges, and build the skills they need for life after high school.
We encourage students to challenge themselves academically through opportunities such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Dual Enrollment at the local community college, allowing them to begin building their college transcript while still in high school. Counselors also help students explore their strengths, interests, and career pathways through tools such as CaliforniaColleges.edu (CCGI) and career assessments, supporting informed decisions about their futures.
The Counseling Center provides personalized support in navigating graduation requirements, selecting courses, and creating a four-year academic plan. We also guide students through the college application process, including CSU, UC, community college, and private university applications, and provide resources for scholarships, financial aid, and other post-secondary opportunities.
In addition to academic and college guidance, the Counseling Center promotes student well-being by offering a safe space to discuss personal challenges and connect with school and community resources. We collaborate with families to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Through individual counseling, workshops, and a variety of resources, the JFK Counseling Center is committed to helping every student feel supported, informed, and prepared to achieve their academic, social, and career goals.
