Virtual Class Environment

Just as in a real classroom, a virtual classroom must have standards of behavior in order to have the best environment for learning and socializing. Please review the practices outlined in the graphic at the left.

Zoom or Google Meet

We plan to use Zoom with the same code for your class all year. You will find your class code on Google Classroom. Passwords will change for each class meeting, and you will receive them by either Google Classroom, email, or Remind. Do not share these. If Zoom does not work, we will switch to Google Meet as Plan B.

Welcome to Class!

Please try to set the name in your Zoom Profile (under settings) to your real name. Check your background. You will be admitted to class one at a time with your mic and video on, so I can welcome you. If I am not sure who you are, you may have to wait. You can text me through Google Voice (916)399-3142, identifying yourself if you are stuck in the the waiting room.

How We Do...

After you are admitted, check in by doing the warm-up. See my welcome letter about your video. After a short lesson, students will collaborate in break out rooms. Then we will have class closure discussion, and do an exit activity. Afterwards, there is an optional work period for students who want to stay.

BRB = Be Right Back

If you need a snack or have to leave your keyboard during class for another good reason, just leave a note in chat that you will be right back. There is no need to ask first. If you are not back soon, tell me why by Google Voice, email, or Remind, since everyone can read the chat.
