Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! 6th Grade Science engages students in scientific inquiry as they explore topics in Earth, Physical and Life Sciences. Throughout the year, students will learn to describe rocks, minerals and soil that make up Earth’s lithosphere, applying the content by inferring past, present and future environments on Earth. We will study the basics of the Modern Cell Theory, by recognizing that all living organisms are made of cells that carry on functions to sustain life. In addition, we will investigate the foundational concepts of the nature of matter; that the atom makes up all objects with mass as well as explore the introductory concepts of motion and energy, specifically learning about potential and kinetic energy and ways to describe and graph the motion of objects.
