The second grade St. Clare/St. Paul Catholic School courses include English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Handwriting, and Religious Education. We provide students with a rigorous academic curriculum appropriately aligned with Diocesan standards and PA Common Core standards. The children attend one special class each day: Library, Art, Music, Technology/STREAM, Physical Education.
In 2nd grade the children prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Your children are introduced to God's forgiveness and peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They will learn about the wonderful gift of the Eucharist when they receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Finally, the students learn about the mass, and how to express their love of God and others through prayer. Our book series is from Sadlier titled "We Believe"
Second graders expand on the math foundations they established in first grade. They will improve their math skills with a focus on addition and subtraction within 100, simple word problems, beginning concepts of money and time, introduction to geometry and measurement. The book series is Envision Mathematics Common Core.
Science is a series from Envision and includes learning about plants, animals, and study of the earth. The program includes experiments, models of volcanoes, and the solar system.
Social Studies incorporates projects and modules exploring customs and traditions, continents, and states. Also, students explore Asia and its culture, traditions and countries.
