Class overview
Here at St.Clare/St. Paul PreK-4 we are a blended Montessori Early Childhood Program. The Montessori language curriculum helps to develop and strengthen the language, writing and speaking skills through hands-on manipulatives and small group instruction. We focus on developing communication skills, vocabulary and formation of proper sounds.
Preparatory Stage: Children learn the letters, sounds and associate the sounds with the symbols.
Activities: Alphabet boards, uppercase/lowercase letters, CVC pictures/objects and sandpaper letters.
Symbolic Stage: Children use movable letters to create words and sentences.
Activities: Storytelling, 3 part cards and movable alphabet
Reading & Writing Stage: Children learn to read and write.
Activities: Metal insets, chalk/whiteboards, and tracing.

After practicing sounds, blending and sight words...students begin to build and write sentences. Then they illustrate their work.
