Surrarrer Maker Club works on a STEM challenge:

Build a tower using marshmallows and toothpicks.

Thanks to Mrs. Cebula, Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Whitcar 24 fourth grade students were able to experience 2 STEM challenges, learn to take still images using the green screen, use the sewing machine, hand sew a small pocket, and spend a little extra time exploring our MakerSpace.

MakerSpace News!

Sew much fun!

Our students are getting excited about working with fabric this month. Hand sewing, machine sewing and fabric weaving all provide opportunities to create. They start out learning to thread a needle and hand sew a change purse, phone case or bookmark. Then they learn to control the sewing machine and will eventually sew a pillow, scarf or pencil case. Check out the woven dog toys, fleece scarves, decorative pillows and small totes that our students are making. The next time a button falls off their clothes they may be able to sew it on themselves.

We are looking for some donations for this MakerSpace station.

A few of the specific things we could use are:

  • Fleece
  • Felt
  • Buttons
  • Pillow stuffing
  • Batting
  • Large eyed needles
