Welcome to Yearbook! Please read through the syllabus linked below and share it with your parents/guardians.
This year-long course is focused on the creation and completion of the MSHS Hurricane Yearbook. While the class is technically listed as Photojournalism, it includes so much more. You will learn about photography, design, print, marketing, media, communication, etc. The yearbook is generally photo-based, but there are writing components. Another major skill that you will need to use or develop this year is organization. We will be using technology and most of our work will be done on the computer, but organization skills are a must for maintaining files and meeting deadlines. We will be looking for leadership in every student in this class and will work to help you find your strengths.
In addition to the yearbook, you will be given assignments to develop a photography/design portfolio. This will be a great addition to your college/job applications. We also have a goal to redevelop a literary magazine for MSHS. Cool stuff!
Yearbook staff members have special privileges to assist with picture days, leave campus for ad sales, etc. You must be in good standing in both academics and attendance in ALL classes to qualify for these privileges. All special work will be pre-approved by Ms. Untiedt.
