67th Annual Chilhowie Apple Festival Marching Band Competition

Introduction

Thank you for visiting our site to learn more about the Chilhowie Apple Festival Marching Band Competition sponsored by Emory & Henry College. The 2018 Apple Festival Competition will be Saturday, September 28th at 2pm. We look forward to hosting your band on our campus!

Registration

Last year, we had 22 bands attend the event! Do Not Delay!

Performance times will be determined by the time-stamp on the electronic registration, with the earliest time-stamp being assigned the latest performance time slot in each respective class.

The entry fee is $75.00 dollars and is due no later than September 3th, 2018.

Classifications

Classifications will be based on the number of wind performers in each ensemble. We strive to create classes that are equal and fair for each band. Last year, within each class the bands were only separated by five wind players.

Judging

Judging will be traditional caption style judging.

Music= 40%

Visual Effect= 30%

General Effect= 30%

Ties will be broken by caption scores in the following order: Music, Visual Effect, General Effect.

New This Year!

When you comment we listen!

First, Chilhowie High School will be in the second year of a brand new field surface this year. Beautiful Bermuda grass was planted last Spring and the second phrase of growth has created a wonderful surface for marching bands!

Secondly, we are adding multiple concession stands on both sides of the football field. No longer will there just be food offered on one side of the field. Also, we will have a variety of vendors there too, which will improve traffic and create more offerings for your students.

Thirdly, we're improving our recording equipment for all the judges. We will have superior recordings for your group!
