New Elementary School Project Update 10/16/2026

The design process for the new elementary school continues to advance, with the Owner Design Team meeting on a biweekly basis. The team includes representatives from the school district, CMBA Architects, Beckenhauer Construction, and the project’s engineering teams. Current priorities include continued development of the building’s exterior design and finalization of the interior floor plan, which is nearing completion.

Throughout the design process, the district has placed a strong emphasis on collaboration and stakeholder input. Representatives from various departments have been engaged to ensure the new facility is thoughtfully designed to meet the educational, operational, technological, and long-term needs of our students and staff.

The interior design team has met with teaching staff to gather input and recommendations regarding the design of learning spaces, interior features, and potential themes for the building. In addition, the district has worked with the maintenance and IT departments to identify operational requirements and ensure that appropriate equipment, technology, infrastructure, and building systems are incorporated into the design.

The district has also engaged a kitchen consultant to evaluate the existing elementary school kitchen and assist with planning for the new facility. As part of this process, the project team will tour the high school kitchen to review existing equipment and operations and determine what equipment, resources, and other considerations should be incorporated into the new elementary kitchen.

The Owner Design Team met last Tuesday to review the project’s progress, address outstanding design considerations, and continue moving the plans toward completion. These regular meetings remain an important part of maintaining progress and ensuring that the project continues to align with the district’s goals and expectations.

The current target is to have the construction documents completed in early December. Following completion and approval of the construction documents, the project will move into the bidding phase.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2027, weather permitting. The district’s current goal is to have the new elementary school completed and ready to welcome students at the beginning of the 2028–29 school year.

As the project continues to progress, the district will provide ongoing updates to the community. The school website will be updated with current project information, including updated plans, project schedules, and other important developments as they become available. This will provide staff, families, and community members with a central location to follow the progress of the new elementary school.
