Cats and Kittens

Artifact Description

This slide deck contains a variety of cat and kitten, and wild cat images. Students view the can-do statements before beginning so they know what the expecatations are. Then they warm up and activate prior knowledge with some Wordwall puzzles. Each page has an image and specific writing prompts. These try to prepare the learner for taking the WIDA ACCESS writing test for English Learners.

Reflection

Students were interested in the images. It worked well to share the "editor" link with them so they could choose to work on slides that appealed to them. This slide deck format could be used for other animal themes just by substituting different pictures. After the writing I took screen shots of their slides and uploaded them into their Book Creator Writing Book for the school year. The slide is dated and has their initials, so that we can track their writing progress throughout the year.
