Ever since its first edition in 2008, the aims of MISO have been to enable Malta' s Scrabble players to mix competitively and socially with their counterparts from overseas, who in turn have an opportunity and an incentive to visit Malta.

Over the past two years, the once happy oasis of international competitive Scrabble has all but dried up under the scorching impact of the pandemic. Scrabble lovers all over the world are thirsting for their favourite game, even though there are lingering concerns about the safety of resuming Scrabble activity.

The pandemic has taught us how many things we can do remotely and as effectively as when we do them in person. But we have also learned at our expense that there are many other things that are best done in person. Now that we have turned a corner in the fight against Covid-19, we can go back to doing some activities in person albeit with strict safety measures in place.

One such activity is playing competitive Scrabble. Practicing this magnificent mind sport in the physical presence of your opponent is the best way to ensure there is fair play and to enjoy a socially rich experience.

More than a year on from its abrupt but inevitable cancellation, the Return of MISO13 in the fall of 2021 is seeking to Revive the movement and meeting of Scrabble-loving folks across borders, allowing them to Relive the immense joy and thrill of playing in person, coupled with the sweet irresistible pleasure of seeing, dining and staying on the Maltese Islands.
