Spring Cottage Reading Blog

We love reading at Spring Cottage Primary School! We have created this blog to enable us to work as partners with our parents to share in our pupils’ reading development and celebrate their reading achievements. You will also find our latest news about upcoming events or exciting changes, all aimed at raising the profile of reading within our school.

Reading Corners

Our classrooms have all had a revamp and our reading corners are now like mini libraries! We have a small selection of high quality fiction that the children can read at home or in school. We also have a small selection of non-fiction titles. Most of these are linked to our curriculum subjects.

The School Library

We have re-stocked our school library thanks to the help of our 'Hull Schools Library Service'. We are open every Tuesday 3:15pm - 4pm to all children across school. The library is run by our Reading Ambassadors and they are always available to recommend books to children.

Our Reading Shed

We are very excited as the long-awaited Reading Shed has opened on the playground. We are sure the children are going to really enjoy choosing a book and reading with their friends. Our reading leaders and ambassadors are also going to be reading their favourite stories to the chidlren and sharing their own love of reading.

Marbles for Marvellous Reading!

Children can earn marbles for reading throughout the week and for completing their reading at home.
