Scouts ACT is able to provide the training program and the assessment necessary to obtain the ACMA qualification.
The program runs over two days.
The first day focuses on instruction around the ACMA Syllabus.
Day 2 provides a period of revision followed by a 25 question theory assessment and a practical assessment.
There is no minimum age to obtain the qualification, although given the content of the program it is best suited to older Scouts through to leaders.
•The ACMA recognition certificate (Foundation) is the entry-level qualification for amateur radio in Australia.
• It allows people to operate an amateur station on a limited set of frequencies (foundation frequencies).
• The syllabus and related examination for the ACMA Foundation recognition certificate reflects the minimum level of knowledge, skills and experience required to:
•safely assemble an amateur station
•operate it safely on the foundation frequencies
•not cause interference to other users and services.
