Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 virus, many scout trainings / activities have to be postponed or cancelled and these may have impacts on youth members’ plans to complete the relevant award assessments. After careful consideration, the Association decided to extend the assessment period of awards under these very special circumstances.
Youth members of the following two groups could extend their assessment period for relevant awards:
Group A:
Any youth members who holds a valid membership and reaches the upper age limit of a section as specified in the “Policies, Organization, and Regulations” of the Scout Association of Hong Kong between 1st June 2019 and 31st May 2020 (both dates inclusive) may choose to continue the award assessment of the original section (including participation in training courses, activities, and assessments) and complete all award assessments on or before 31st May 2021.
Group B:
Any youth members who holds a valid membership and reaches the upper age limit of a section as specified in the “Policies, Organization, and Regulations” of the Scout Association of Hong Kong between 1st June 2020 and 31st December 2020 (both dates inclusive) may choose to continue the award assessment of the original section (including participation in training courses, activities, and assessments) for a period of up to one year (counting from his/her birthday).
To provide adequate support and adjustment arrangements for affected members, members (or their leaders) who are planning to extend their award assessment period are now invited to register on the Programme Branch (Sections) Page on or before 15th July 2020. The Branch will contact relevant members or/and relevant parties to explore appropriate solutions for respective members.
All scout groups, districts, regions and branches will work together, placing the benefit of youth members as the most important consideration, and make every effort to enable all relevant members to continue with their award assessment. The Association will review this arrangement and its operation from time to time. For enquiries, please contact Programme Branch at 2957 6411 or 2957 6417 during office hours.
