In class: We read the climax of Shane (Ch. 14) and discussed it. We will finish the book tomorrow!

In class: We finished reading Shane (Ch. 15-16) and discussed the ending in detail. We finished the descriptive paragraph worksheet.

Friday, September 5:
In class: We took grammar notes over Predicate Nominatives and Adjectives and worked on the Lesson to Learn B worksheet. We began to prepare for Tuesday's Socratic discussion over Shane.

NOTE - The class will still need to bring their copy of Shane next week for their seminar and essay, but they should also begin bringing our next book, The Wind in the Willows, next week as well.

In class: We previewed Unit 3 of LGR. We reviewed for tomorrow's grammar test. We read and discussed Ch. 9 of Shane.
Homework: Grammar Test tomorrow! Study notes and Lesson to Learn C. LGR pages due Thursday. One class has to finish reading Ch. 9 of Shane.
Tuesday, August 26:
In class: The class took the first Grammar Test of the year. We also read and discussed Ch. 10 of Shane. Any additional time was spent on descriptive writing exercises.

In class: The class began to read and discuss Ch. 11 of Shane. We will finish reading in class - it is not homework to finish. We also discussed our next descriptive writing assignment (also to be done entirely in class)

In class: We went over classroom expectations and procedures. We discussed the adage, "you reap what you sow".
Homework: Sign and return syllabi. Bring our first novel, Shane. Bring a one inch binder with 5 tab dividers and loose leaf paper - we will label it in class tomorrow and it will become our grammar binder.

In class: We continued to review classroom expectations. We took a short quiz over the syllabus and discussed the importance of annotation and why we do it. We set up our grammar binder together.
Homework: Finish the "Me as a Learner" worksheet. Bring Shane and binder materials IF you have not already done so.

In class: The class previewed the first unit of LGR (this will be a regular Monday occurrence). We also introduced and began reading Ch. 1 of Shane (it is not HW to finish reading).
