Rankings

Ranking Rules:

Ranking games are played ONLY in the spring semester (membership is set by then). The Top Ten ranking chess club members will be recognized during award's day for their achievement. The top 10 will receive a chess pin to wear on their graduation robes. The first place will get a trophy.

You earn Ranking points by playing Chess! Winning games will earn you 2 points; draw only 1 point. You can only play the 3 ranking games against the same opponent. But the more you play, the better player you become!

However, AFTER spring break, you can directly challenge someone of greater rank than you! If you are already ranked and you lose 2 out of 3 games to a challenger below your rank, then the challenger will take your ranking spot and you take theirs (points do not go with the players!). The games do not have to be consecutively played but but must be played within 2 weeks of a direct challenge. You may only challenge players that are 1 or 2 ranks above you. You can only evoke a direct rank challenge 2 times! So new members who haven't made the list yet, I suggest you start with a challenge! (although, you would only be able to choose the last 2 ranks to challenge).

At the BEGINNING of the spring semester, points will be given at each rank to start the process for this year - only the top ten have points). *Point values will be changed throughout the year - the order of ranking will be adjusted at the END of each month. Everyone not in the top ten will start at zero points and I will add the points in parenthesis by their names as they play games. So Time to challenge!
