Welcome to 5th grade! This site will serve as an informational tool to help you familiarize yourself with 5th grade procedures, policies, schedules, and your new teachers! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!

A lot of exciting things will be happening this school year. We look forward to working with you. It is our goal to provide a positive and safe environment where your child will develop academically and socially. The first few days we will concentrate on getting to know our students better, and going over safety and school procedures. We look forward to learning and growing together!

Two key factors that will help make a successful year are COMMUNICATION and COOPERATION. In an effort to communicate with you, we are including some information for you to easily access at any time, and also provide you an opportunity to respond to some requests for information that will help your teachers throughout the year!

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

  • Will my child have a leadership role in the classroom?

A leader is someone who helps others succeed. During the year students will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills by serving in a classroom leadership role.

  • What about lockers?

Lockers will be assigned by each teacher.

  • How do I check my student's grades?

Students' grades may be monitored online through parent portal.

  • What should my child bring to school daily?

Students may bring backpacks, lunchboxes, and water bottles labeled with their name to school each day.

  • What Specials will my child attend?

5th grade students attend Art, Drama, Technology, PE, and Library. They also have the opportunity to participate in the Collins band.

  • What time is dismissal?

5th grade dismisses at 2:40. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:40 to pick up your car rider. This will help us social distance our students in the afternoons.

  • Will my student have homework?

Your student is expected to read every night at home for at least 20 minutes. Other homework will be assigned as needed.
