The Primary Talent Pool (PTP) includes K–3 students informally identified as high-potential learners—typically in the top quartile—through a combination of observations and assessments. It provides early enrichment and differentiated instruction to nurture emerging talents before formal gifted identification begins in fourth grade. Participation in PTP does not guarantee later gifted identification, which requires meeting formal criteria.
*Primary Talent Pool Selection does not guarantee a student's placement in the gifted and talented program. Students must meet the identification requirements to be formally identified for gifted and talented services in fourth and fifth grade.
“Gifted and Talented” (often called GT, G&T, or Gifted Education) is a program for students in grades 4–12 who demonstrate advanced thinking skills or strong abilities in certain areas compared to other students their age. Students may begin the formal evaluation process for the program starting in fourth grade.
For students who qualify, the program is designed to provide additional academic challenges that keep them engaged, motivated, and supported in their learning. The program recognizes that some students may benefit from advanced learning opportunities and instruction that matches their academic strengths and pace of learning.
