October is here, and with it comes a season of exciting activities and opportunities for our students. This month, we are looking forward to our Halloween-themed event, Spooktacular, on October 29th, where students can wear costumes, participate in reading and math stations, and earn tickets for the candy trail. It’s going to be a fun-filled night (5:30 pm-7:00 pm) focused on learning and building community. I hope to see many of you there!
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Let’s continue to make this year a memorable one for our Northern Elementary family!
At Northern Elementary, we’re committed to empowering students to be leaders not only in school but also in their daily lives. Through our Leader In Me program, students are learning to take ownership of their actions, set personal goals, and work collaboratively with their peers. This month, we are focusing on Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind, which encourages students to think about their long-term goals and make a plan to achieve them. It’s a wonderful habit that helps our children understand that every choice they make can shape their future.
Here are some ways you can reinforce this habit at home:
Encourage your child to set small, achievable goals for the week, such as completing homework or helping around the house.
Talk about the importance of planning ahead and making thoughtful decisions.
Celebrate your child’s accomplishments, no matter how big or small, to show them that their efforts matter!
By working together, we can help our students build the confidence and skills they need to be leaders in school and beyond!
