Junior Orchestra is an instrumental ensemble open to students from Year 2-6 with some level of skill on their instrument. We aim to be a challenging but supportive ensemble where we work together to create music, develop our individual and ensemble skills and find joy and pride in our combined efforts.
Senior Orchestra is a Semester 1 ensemble, combining, string, wind, brass and percussion players. Orchestral instrumentalists from Year 7-12 are welcome at this ensemble. If you are unsure about whether this ensemble suits you let us know.
Jazzgang is a senior ensemble for brass, woodwind and rhythm sections players including bass, guitar, piano and drums. The ensemble performs a range of swing, blues and jazz-rock styles, providing entertainment for Scots and community events.
Hazelwood Strings is our pinnacle string ensemble. Named after Don Hazelwood, one-time concertmaster of the Adelaide Symphony, this group aims to extend our most advanced students with a range of repertoire experiences and ensemble skills to complement their individual abilities.
Junior Choir is a choir for students in Year 3-6. We rehearse weekly on Mondays at lunchtime. We have various performance opportunities during the year including the Music Festival and Grandparents Day.
Cantabile is a choir for students from Year 5-9. Girls and boys with treble voices are welcome. This choir is for those who love to sing and is a training ground for our more advanced ensembles higher up the Senior School. All students in the allotted are welcome to come and sing but will be asked to take an informal audition so we know best how to work with them.
In Senior Choir, all students in Yrs7-12 are welcome, regardless of ability. We work on pieces from wide range of styles and cultures and perform at the "big events" each year.
Chorale is a group for girls in Years 10-12. It is an auditioned choir and focuses on developing skills in independence and harmony singing.
Dynamix is a group for boys with changed voices. We focus on being comfortable singing, working together to achieve our common goals and having fun along the way.
The Barbershop and Adelines groups are our pinnacle male and female vocal groups. With only four members in each group, a high level of individual skill, ensemble awareness and commitment are expected. These groups perform at various events through out the year and study a wide range of repertoire.
Semester 2 Ensembles
String Orchestra runs in Semester 2, and is our ensemble for string players to focus on the techniques and skills required one their instruments in a string only setting. We study a range of traditional and contemporary string repertoire and perform at various events in the second half of the year.
Concert Band runs in Semester 2 and is the Senior Ensemble for Brass, Woodwind and Percussion players. Students perform a range of traditional and contemporary repertoire and perform at Scots events throughout the year.
