For students that have forgotten their South Colonie Password: You will need to ask Ms. Detrick to reset it. It will be reset to the secondary password that is used for accounts such as I-Ready. If your student number begins with a zero, enter it without the first zero. Example: 0978478 is entered as 978478.

Q: How are grades calculated for Ms. Detrick? (What is the grading scheme?)
A: Ms. Detrick has five different grading categories:
1. Practice Sheet Completion: As long as a student completes a "practice sheet" to the BEST of his/her ability, it will be entered as a 100% in the grade book regardless if the actual answers justify a 100%. The purpose is to practice a new concept and learn from any mistakes. Ms. Detrick often modifies future instruction based on the results of "Practice Sheets." If a student only completes half of a practice sheet, he/she may earn a 50% on the assignment. This is 10% of the overall quarterly grade. (Code: PS)
2. Homework: Most often, homework sheets cover a topic that is not considered "new content." It is given a number grade based on the percent correct. This is 10% of the overall quarterly grade. (Code HW)
3. Quiz: This is 30% of the overall quarterly grade. (Code Q)
4. Test: This is 50% of the overall quarterly grade. (Code T) Any zeroes issued in this category have a GREAT impact on the overall average.
5. Ungraded: (Code "UG") This does NOT count towards the quarterly average. A "100" indicates completion of the task. A "0" means the task has not been completed. Example: Turn in a paper to be signed by a parent. A zero in that category has no impact on the overall average. It is really there just for parents/guardians to verify that a non academic task has been assigned and the student followed through on the task.
