World Book Day

Check out our costumes for World Book Day. We had a lovely day of activities, with one of the highlights being some buddy reading with Senior Infants. 

RDS Science Blast

An undoubted highlight of the year so far has been the preparation and participation in the RDS Science Blast. We did an incredible amount of work in the lead up to the big day on March 4th. The day itself was wonderful - there were stalls, exhibits from other schools and live shows. We were delighted to receive our trophy and some generous feedback from our judges. 

St Patrick's Cathedral 

We were very lucky to visit St Patrick's Cathedral. We had a very interesting tour of the building and learned the many ways it is connected with Irish history. Then we had an opportunity to make our own stained glass windows. 

Tinfoil Sculptures

We made statues by using tinfoilm. First we got a sheet of tinfoil and smoothing it we cut some lines to crumble it up. We created different animals and shapes . Then we stuck it on a paper plate.

Palentines Day

On Valentines Day we celebrated Palentines Day. We had lots of fun we wore pyjamas. We had a meditation and we played with lego. We also had a trail. 

Pancake Tuesday

We had some delicous pancakes on Pancake Tuesday with some tasty toppings.

      TAG RUGBY

We have been working with Solas to learn how to play tag rugby and we learnt that team stands for: Together Everybody Achieve More. 

Australia day

To celebrate Australia day, we painted Aboriginal-style paintings.

Grandparents day

On Wednesday the 24th of January we welcomed our grandparents into our room to ask them questions and find out about their lives when they were younger. We even got to speak to grandparents that, live in different countries.

Happy Holidays!

We had a nice relaxing day today after a term of good work and lots of learning. It was well deserved :) We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas break. We will return to school on Jan 8th 2024.

1st Class Visit

We had lots of fun showing 1st Class how to log into their Chromebooks and use ixl. We had time for a quick kahoot too! We hope to buddy up again in the New Year and pass on our chromebook skills. 

Cyber Safety Talk 

We are thankful to the local Gardaí for visiting and giving us some very useful information to help prevent cyberbullying and to be kind online. If you want more information you can follow this link. Garda Cybersafety  

Dáil Éireann

We were very lucky to be invited to visit Leinster House by local TD Rebecca Moynihan. We had a very interesting tour of the two houses of parliment and even had a quick visit to St Stephens Green on the way back to school!

Christchurch Trip

5th Class were invited to place some decorations on the communal Christmas tree in Christchurch Cathedral. We got the chance to have a look around afterwards and spotted such interesting things as the heart of St Lawrence O'Toole, the patron saint of Dublin, and "Tom and Jerry", a mummified cat and mouse! We also made our own decorations for our classroom including Santa "Claws" this week, so we are firmly in holiday mode!

Fun with Fractions 

We have been learning about fractions and we have been playing fun games such as snap, bingo and matching games. It helps us learn how to find equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions etc and how to convert between them. 

Football Coaching with FAI

We have been enjoying the football sessions with Dave from FAI. We especially enjoyed the mini-matches. 

Write to Read Celebration

One of the highlights of November in 5th Class was the Write to Read Celebration Day because we had lots of family to come and see our work especially our writing work. It was a lovely and busy day. We had lots of fun. 

Science Week

November was a busy but fun month. One of the highlights was Science Week.

In Science Week we did lots of different experiments. We created circuits and built periscopes. We also learned how to do morse code with mirrors.

27th October

This week we had a fun time on Friday with dressing up and having a mini party. We had a walk around the local area. Our class had a fun time being entertained by Joseph,Conor and Cruz's Performance and even got to pick some stuff off Ms. Spillane's table. This includes her head. 

25th October

Today we had a Garda safety talk about staying safe at Hallowe'en. They sent in Officers called Martha & David from Kevin Street Police Station and they taught us how to stay SAFE ( Stay Away From Evil) at Hallowe'en.

18th October

This week we have enjoyed Maths Week. We had fun winning the Hit the Button competition on Friday. We also enjoyed doing maths for fun, maths with sports and maths construction. We estimated the amounts of several objects in bags and even had a few close estimates.

11th October

On Friday we visited Tivoli event space for the junior Open House exhibit. We enjoyed looking at last year's design ideas . We got ice-cream for free! We deserved it because we worked hard in the Tivoli Event Space re-imagining the Iveagh Market. A big thank you to Noel's Deli for their generosity. 


4th October

This week has been another nice week. We have injoiyd football at break. In Maths we learned about averages. We used the Kapla bricks to help us. SARI visited us last Friday for half the day. We learned about discrimination, disability, racism and sexism. We played fun games. We are really enjoying reading "The 1000 Year Old Boy" and "Onion O'Brien"

27 september

 This  week we had funday friday we started by walking in and then having fun all day ! We started with the poster competition .We had yoga  for 20 minutes.   After that we were in the garden playing eagle eyes. We went to yard .We had marshmallows with choclate spread and games. After that we played a quiz game where we had to go throught hula hoops.We made bookmarks.
