A summer externship is an opportunity to observe, investigate, and develop the connections between your academic content standards and the daily operations of a local business. Teams of two or more teachers will be partnered with a Sonoma County business to discover what their content standards look like “in the wild,” and to create an authentic performance task for students analogous to what adults do in the workplace. Teacher teams will also learn about the technical requirements for employment in the selected industry as well as the collaborative “transferrable skills” needed to be successful in that particular career.
