Harriet Tubman (c. 1822–1913) was a revolutionary American abolitionist, Union spy, and suffragist. Born Araminta "Minty" Ross into slavery in Dorchester County, Maryland, she became the most famous "conductor" of the Underground Railroad, never losing a passenger on her many missions to lead others to freedom.
