The imposing roller coaster that is broadcasted every day in the news concerns very and is very alarming. With Americans devoting on average 8 hours a day consuming media, it fills up a ⅓ of their day. With so much time being spent on media, what do we do about the media that’s being consumed? Some say to dispose of it completely off the face of the earth, others say to sensor it but neither is the real root of the problem. As we feel as one, what do we do about the information being spread so much that we don’t scarcely blame one specific organization anymore? It’s a question of who we owe courtesy to? As we spend so much time, we can pinpoint many aspects such as addiction simply, you can’t downplay things you're not aware of. You are unaware, so that makes for a headline that you then click on because you’re gullible. Watching too much will subsequently make for you to instantly obtain a hold of this information. With technology, there are so many ways to reach media, such as advertisements and videos, and those seep into every little thing you consume. With this way of the world going into a constant state of shock, it’s hard to break the cycle of addiction when you’re so set on something so absorbing. So when the cycle is painted of underprivileged children on the news every day, they are going playing nothing but people in poverty because they have their own way. This then creates the mean world syndrome around only negative energy. This energy is then propelled into more stories centered around stories of violence and even get condensed so that your area. With fear instilled in your heart, you then get engulfed in the stories that are close to you and you go and tell people about other things you saw but will ever not see. It’s how they confuse people and keep them coming back because we see it often in the reposting of posts and political campaigns.
In a world where the world’s leading democracy there is no distinct way to describe of our democracy and this isn’t how it used to be. Back then it was just straight America as the honest model for democracy as we were the most feared. Print media was the main thing that influenced politics and entertainment. Dating back to the 1780s in which political parties would demand what would get put in the papers making a “democracy” controlled. But with time we made things more exposed because of the media and that ruined the perception of America as a democracy. People soon developed a much more skeptical look at the government as its actions were never questioned as no one level headed was catching onto them. As we took in the views from the other side, we started to build a much deeper understanding of things like Wars, politics, safety, and domestic affairs because there was no one that incited the stop to this corrupt system. But the media however had individuals by their attention as politics and people convince the people started because it’s just what people flock to. Even as people come often, this is due to the diverse number of outlets that are out there to serve people. This includes a range of media sources like newspapers, television news, radio programs, online news websites, and social media platforms. In a democratic society, the media should serve as a watchdog over government and other influential institutions, holding them accountable for their actions and informing the public about important issues. But this attraction isn’t going away as freedom of speech and input from Don Lemon is what people choose. But the deadly dosage of the media makes life seem limited. “You can’t go outside because the rise in gun violence makes it unsafe.” Or all the more when the reporters try to talk cold but they don’t perceive anything because they are only reporting what they are given and act like they care.
But who’s asking for these tips on the world? The source by Charlotte Neale: “The media’s Influence On Society.”The source discusses the influence of the media on society, focusing on the UK media landscape. It argues the media has a powerful role in shaping public opinion, influencing political discourse, and shaping cultural attitudes. The article discusses the different types of media, including traditional print and broadcast media, as well as newer forms of media like social media. The quote reads.“54% of daily media time is online. Also, on a typical day, 12% of people watch online TV, 10% listen to online radio, 12% read online press, 28% use social networking sites, 13% micro-blogging, 9% read or write blogs, and 17% do other things. These stats tell only a section of the story behind what is really reaching certain backgrounds and people. So this then creates a bigger question of who and what different media outlets serve a purpose? You wouldn’t believe how much media is tapped into many different things such as media condensed into audio and that reaches many people. Also quoting from a statia, a company that collects information regarding media data stated that: “The shift in consumption towards digital media in the country started in 2018 and this trend has been growing constantly since.” It also discusses the potential for bias and manipulation in the media and the importance of media literacy in being able to critically evaluate media messages. Things like this are ordinary for media outlets to spread misinformation which can make it hard to believe the media. Therefore it’s significant to think about these demographics that will aid you to understand the media and will let you know it well.
Not everyone is going knowing what makes for a good headline and goofies need guidance because no one taught them right from wrong. Everyone looks to the reporter for the “"ight" information, but it’s not the right information I promise, seeing where the media as a society has got us makes us more divided and this makes us more stuck in our ways. We know many victims of the media and as you speak and interact with them you look at them in a questionable way.The people in these media companies benefit more from the users than the user benefiting the media company. As it’s cited to increase revenue so they can keep pumping out the things you come back to see and reduce the costs of many things in the company. It’s for the people who are glued to their phones and this paints narratives that aren’t true for certain people. With the story involving Tyrone Williams a 20-year-old man that was attacked outside his Olney home when he was jumped by white teenagers that resulted in a punctured lung that could've ended his life. The media saw that it was a group of White teenagers that did the crime and it was swept under the rug because of the people involved. So as everything was put to rest and people went on to live their lives it then strikes another nerve that the media then paints. With a story like this being spread to the public we now look at a neighborhood like Olney is looked at with a side-eye because of the representation. Stories like are pushed instead of the good that happens in places like Olney even though there might be a lot going. We as a society need to transform our needs from the media into serving our community and being more aware of the community. We simply have to change our lifestyles as people. We have to get people to stop going to Facebook as their one-stop shop for news and stop relying on people to tell them what their “truth” is. Most of the things we see on the news are dreaded, and that is what makes us so cold towards the world.
But until then what is the best news station to look to for the most accurate information? Go to the Associated Press or Wall Street Journal because they don’t talk recklessly and hold on to things unbiased. When the madness of the world around you can’t be all in. Being all in means you don’t remember and you’re no longer enjoying life anymore in the greater sense. With the media acting as a puppeteer manipulating our viewing experience as such it’s hard to find a valuable source. So just cut it out and only dapple in it, don’t submerge yourself. Look at people who aren’t tapped into the media constantly and merely observe it, they live a much more relaxed life. Which is why media representation of black people has been a long standing issue, with many depictions perpetuating harmful stereotypes or failing to accurately portray the diversity of black experiences. Black individuals are often portrayed as criminals, impoverished, or as exoticized caricatures, and the lack of positive and nuanced representation in mainstream media can have a profound impact on how they are perceived and treated in society. You don’t have to be Amish or experience an ultra-conservative lifestyle but merely leave it alone. For many Americans, the thought of not indulging in media services is a death sentence and it doesn’t have to be that way. Look at your screen time, and tell me it isn’t shocking to see how much time is being wasted on media that you don’t even benefit from. Unique entertainment is given to you and when you seek out the time to learn about information you are bombarded with so much that it just isn’t good for you. I’m not saying all media is bad, but I’m saying look out and seek reliable and trustworthy sources so that your research is fleshed out correctly.
