My first word as a baby was, “Mama,” then “no,” then,“cat.” Cats have been my favorite animal for as long as I can remember. Ever since I could start making coherent sentences, I would talk about cats. I begged my parents for a cat for years, over a decade in fact. My mom didn’t want a cat but I was determined(responsibilities or something, and my sister’s allergies). I made PowerPoint presentations, wished for them every year on my birthday, and promised I would take care of a cat, but to no avail.
Fortunately, when my sister left for college, my parents’ marriage failed, and I gained cats out of it. I have two cats named Pistachio and Miso. They are both from a local shelter right around the corner from my home called PAWS. They are super cute and I love my cats a lot.
They both love food, and will try to steal it from you. Miso especially, and if you try to take it back from her, she will growl at you. I still love her though because she's just a cat that doesn’t know anything. She doesn’t even know what the IRS is, or that she can’t eat plastic.
Miso is also very cuddly. She will cuddle and purr on you when you walk into the house, and sometimes she will cuddle up with you in bed.
Pistachio, on the other hand, likes to keep a safe distance. He will sit on the couch with you, but if you get too close, he will run away. Not very far though. They are very sociable cats and always want to be around someone in the house.
Pistachio and Miso also love each other. They cuddle and are never far away from each other. They also play-fight and it is very funny and silly, and always makes me laugh. They never actually hurt each other though.
Both of my cats are vocal, but Pistachio is the most vocal. He loves to meow. Sometimes he meows for food(most of the time), sometimes he meows when he's startled, sometimes he meows so he can be let out of or into a room, and sometimes he meows for fun.
Pistachio was the first cat I've ever had, and taking care of a him has changed my life. I constantly find myself thinking about his cute little face, and his fluffy paws. Whenever I am sad I cuddle with him and give him treats. Sometimes I dress him up as well. I want him to have the happiest life a cat could have.
I got Pistachio in November of 2021, and Miso exactly a year later in 2022. Miso has only added to the fun. She is super cute and rambunctious, and reminds me of a Canadian Goose. She loves her food and will fight for it. She can also be a little vicious.
The cats can also do tricks! Mostly only Pistachio, because Miso lacks intelligence. Pistachio can sit, stand on his back paws, spin, and high-five/shake. It is very amazing to see how much cats can understand, and how smart they can be.
Essentially, I believe that everyone should love cats. I think cats are the most amazing, most perfect, animals in the entire world. They are so cute and can do no wrong. I love their little triangle ears and their paws. They are adorable and smart, friendly, and can help your health, and they make life so much better. A lot of people think cats are mean but I think you just need to gain a cat’s trust. They teach you things about yourself and the world that people without cats may never understand. If you don’t like cats, then I don’t like you.
