“And that all the men ever born are also my brothers and the women my sister and lover”
"The machinist rolls up his sleeves, the policeman travels his beat, the gate-keeper marks who pass”
I see it everyday. Everyone is so divided, they fight each other over anything. It deeply upsets me to see how much hate is out there. You look on your phone and what do you see, arguments all over instagram and Tik Tok.
I stumbled across a video detailing the life of homeless people, their stories were very enlightening especially the life of one particular man.
This man spoke about his life and how after his grandfather died his family kicked him out on the street. But despite this and how hard homelessness was he had a smile on his face. He said, “God made us the same but made us look different. We all breathe the same air, bleed the same blood.”
That’s my problem with today, all we want to do as people is just argue each other. It’s funny because we all are just trying to get by in life. In some way we are all connected. The cop and the criminal, both doing jobs to feed their families. Both having dreams of doing something bigger. The point being: everyone just wants to live a better life.
But we get caught up on stupid stuff like race or ethnicity, that we can never see the beauty of just being alive. But I believe the media and politicians divide us. Once they divide us they conquer all of us. Even in my community we have fights against African people and African American people, even though people see us almost exactly the same. They portray us as criminals and scum. I hope that with time I can show people that we are the same and that we must love one another.
