Peace; something that can be difficult to find in Philadelphia. However, if you search hard enough, it is possible. Some may find peace in nature, playing sports, reading, or drawing. For me, one of the places I find peace is on the Regional Rail Transportation system. When people think of Philadelphia transportation, some of the first things that might come to mind are the hectic environments and the bustling crowds that populate and give life to the buses and subway cars; the Regional Rail system is the perfect contrast.Â
The regional rail transportation system stretches from Center City to the greater Philadelphia area. Unlike subways and buses, regional rail trains allow you to simply travel from one edge of Philadelphia to another at the cost of a slightly more expensive fare than a bus or subway. The large windows and smooth tracks make the experience on the regional rail one to remember. The rides are perfect for the people who enjoy and appreciate Philadelphia and the broader neighborhoods. The trains travel through tunnels, past trees, houses, neighborhoods, and skyscrapers. The leather seats that fill each car, provide comfort and a challenge to fall asleep during the ride. Regional rail transportation is notably safer than any other form of transportation in Philadelphia which often puts me at ease, not feeling like my head should be on a swivel.
I enjoy peace. The regional rail creates an environment that encourages just that. Much different from other forms of transportation in Philly, the regional rail provides a relaxed ambiance. And the regional rail may not be convenient for everyone; there's no shame in those who don't ride it. Someone who enjoys staying in the city may not find it useful; that's okay. However, I encourage everyone in Philadelphia to pay for any ride via regional rail regardless. You may love the regional rail or you may hate it, but peace is something we cannot hate. I find peace through riding the regional rail and you can too.
