Now that you are admitted, you have the power! Once colleges admit you, they want you to attend their school so they will email you constantly to sign up. Wait to officially sign up, but there are some items you will need to do for each college you were admitted into.
Log into your school's student portal
Check your school's "task" or "to-do" list on their portal
Make sure your FAFSA includes this school
See if your school requires you submit verification. This can include submitting additional items such as:
list of members in your household
Signed Tax Return
Tax Transcript (available on the IRS website)
Input your financial aid form into Overgrad
Put down a deposit
Fill out a form saying you are attending
Be patient while you wait to hear from other schools. We know it is tough!
Once you have had a lot of time to think it over, you have talked with your parents and your counselor, you can submit a deposit and fill out the form saying you are attending. All seniors and their families will have a meeting with their college counselor at the end of the year to discuss all options and their financial aid packages to ensure you are making the best choice! There are more steps after this, however! See below:
Set up an exit meeting with your counselor. They will talk you through all other steps below.
Let them know you are attending through the portal
Calculate your cost of attendance by adding up direct and indirect costs and subtracting gift aid and loans (if you plan to take out loans)
Accept or decline financial aid
Submit a deposit
Take our loans by signing a Master Promissory Note on FAFSA in July
If you qualify for the Denver Scholarship Foundation follow up with them to make sure you receive your scholarship.
Sign up for orientation
Waive medical insurance at your college
Sign up for housing
Send immunization form to your college
Log into other colleges' portals and let them know you are not attending
Your counselor will send your final transcripts in July- you do not need to worry about this
