I am an applied mathematician and educator currently serving as an Adjunct Instructor and Tutor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). My work lies at the intersection of mathematical biology, stochastic modeling, and network based epidemiology, where I develop mathematical and computational frameworks to study complex disease dynamics. My current research focuses on spatially explicit network models for plant disease systems, including the development of compartmental epidemic models to investigate the spread and management of frogeye leaf spot in soybean crops.
Before joining UTC, I worked as a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Peradeniya (UOP), Sri Lanka, where I taught undergraduate courses, mentored students, and contributed to academic events and outreach activities. My academic journey reflects a strong commitment to both teaching and research, combining rigorous mathematical theory with real world applications. Alongside my work in applied mathematics, my research background also includes graph theory, combinatorics, and cryptography, which has broadened my perspective on interdisciplinary problem solving.
My research interests center on the development of mathematical and computational tools to analyze complex systems. I am particularly interested in network based epidemic modeling, stochastic processes, and data-driven approaches that integrate biological insight with mathematical structure. Through my work, I aim to contribute to the growing field of mathematical biology by designing models that support evidence-based decision-making in agriculture and public health.
