“When we ask students to engage in hard problems, we respect them as scholars. Not only do we show them that youth have much to contribute, but we recognize that they will not be youth forever. Soon they will be our peers, and many will be fighting for justice in many of the same adult arenas. If, in our conversations, we are preoccupied with the shedding of predictable light, our students will be that much less equipped to handle fire when the moment comes" (Kay, 2018).
Meet Dr. Elizabeth E. Schucker
Dr. Elizabeth Schucker, Ed.D., brings over 23 years of experience in K–12 education. She supports gifted learners through her pull-out “G1FT3D” seminar, collaborating closely with educators to deliver differentiated instruction opportunities tailored to individual student needs. As an active board member of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education (PAGE), she hosts the “Turning the PAGE Podcast” (https://www.giftedpage.org/podcasts/) and co-manages PAGE’s social media presence. Dr. Schucker is dedicated to advancing gifted education through teacher preparation and provides professional development workshops for pre-service teachers and graduate-level educators and coordinators. She regularly leads professional learning initiatives and presents at local, state, and national conferences, with presentations that explore a wide range of gifted education topics.
