Cougar Club, Rotary & Lions are running speech contests in early 2023, with awards ranging from $25 to $200 (and up to $20,000 at the state level).
2/6/2023 - Registration deadline
2/8/2023 8:30a - SLVHS School Contest (Cougar Club) (2.5 to 4 minute speech)
Qualifies students to advance to Rotary & Lions contests
2/16/2023 6:00p - Lions speech contest (5 to 10 minute speech)
3/22/2023 8:00a - Rotary (Sunrise) speech contest (4 to 5 minute speech)

Increased perseverance and self-discipline
Achieve more comfort and confidence in college and job interviews
School (Cougar Club) & Lions Contests: "Social Media: Connects us or Isolates us"
Rotary Contest: Any timely topic of interest as long as the speech mentions the “Imagine Rotary” theme (dream big and take action) and one of its Four Way Tests.
Speech must be an original work of the student.
Penalty for speeches under 2.5 minutes or over 4 minutes.
Use of any and all notes at the high school speech contest is acceptable.
The top two finishers go on to Santa Cruz Lions Speech contest.
Up to four finishers may advance to the Rotary speech contest.
Winner will receive a $100 prize
2nd and 3rd will receive a $50 prize
All others will enter a drawing for two $25 prizes (must be present to win)
