Kick-off Meeting January 9, 2021
The robot from the 2020 build season was dubbed "Senderella".
These images show "Senderella" in action. The "Senderalla" work group is observing what systems worked well, which systems could work better, and spent time brainstorming ways to make it better.
Team members who are part of the "Bench-top Robot" group practice constructing components that will be needed in future robotics projects
Team members who are part of the Programming and CAD teams begin work on the code and the design details.
Team members that are part of the CNC router group practice the skills that will be needed to construct a new robot.
In order to be able to work at Calvin, we needed to all get COVID-19 tested. Our team and team of mentors were 100% COVID-19 negative!!
On Monday, January 11, 2021, work began at Calvin University. We are blessed to be able to team up with the Calvin Engineering Department to design and build our robots
The Throne Team:
The throne team spent their time brainstorming improvements for the "Throne" and then designing and constructing the new and improved "Throne" renamed the "Car" . . . Keep and eye out for pictures and videos of the final product!
Goals for the "Throne"
The "Kit Robot" Team:
The "Kit Robot" team constructed a tank drive robot from a First Robotic Kit. The Calvin engineering team then brainstormed a pneumatic chair that will be included in the final product . . . Keep an eye out for pictures and videos of the final product in action!
The Swerve Drive Team:
The swerve drive team constructed a LOT of drive modules . . . enough to supply eight swerve drive modules for the "Throne/Car", and another eight that will be used in two different swerve drive robots that will be used to compare and contrast various hardware and programming features . . . We are excited about the ways this will help us in future years!!
Look for pictures of these two bots in action!
The Senderella Team:
"It's gotta get worse before it gets better!!"
The Senderella Team spent some serious time deconstructing, brainstorming and reconstructing the bot from 2020. Tweaking the drive system ...scrapping the turret shooting system for a simpler, more reliable system, ... changing the ball intake system, ... adding a "hopper" for holding balls ...
Look for pictures and videos of the new and improved Senderella in action!!
Programming Team:
As we change from a "tank drive" system to a swerve drive system the coding has to change... This team quietly works in the background making sure that all of the different bots will be able to function safely.
CNC Team
This team spent their time working in the shop where the camera mostly could not go... This is another team that quietly works on the structures that are vital to any robotics team. They provided frames for the robots, carts for moving and storing all of the equipment, reconstructing practice game pieces . . . They also were crucial to the organization of all our tools.
CAD Team
The CAD team spent countless hours designing the pieces and parts that are vital to and unique to each bot . . . much of their time was spent "after hours" at Calvin University or in the evenings at SCHS.
This quiet, but vital group spends most of their time away from cameras . . .
Look for pictures of this group soon!
