We engage all students in a rigorous, authentic student-centered learning environment that is guided by the 2018 History and Social Science Frameworks and fosters literacy, social understanding, and civic efficacy in our evolving local, national, and global societies.
Through the study of History and Social Sciences, students will
Be informed, engaged, and responsible citizens who vote, serve on juries, volunteer, and participate in civil and productive discourse.
Respect diversity of cultures and multiple perspectives.
Think, read, write, speak, and listen critically and creatively to demonstrate an understanding of content.
Identify, analyze, and research public concerns; deliberate about how to define and address issues; take constructive, collaborative action; reflect on their actions; and influence institutions both large and small.
DESE has provided Parent Guides to the Curriculum Frameworks to help families understand what students are expected to know and be able to do by the end of each grade level.
