• help Westfield students make connections between what they are learning in school and the world beyond school.

• provide a meaningful and structured opportunity for business leaders to establish a presence in Westfield Public Schools with support.

• educate the future workforce about local businesses.

Who is involved?

Business partners and excellent classroom teachers who wish to provide a unique learning experience for students.

How does it work?

Business leaders and teachers will partner to implement a classroom project. A content-area supervisor will support collaborative planning, implementation of the project, and follow-up reflection between the teacher and business leader.

What is the time commitment?

Three pilot projects were implemented in 2018-2019, and each project was limited in scope with clearly defined outcomes and timelines. The average project took 5 class periods on 5 different school days.

• Meeting 1: Co-planning between Teacher, Business Leader, and Supervisor

• Meeting 2: Direct Instruction with Students

• Meeting 3: Related Activities and Practice for Students

• Meeting 4: Student Discourse & Reflection

• Meeting 5: Discourse and Reflection for Teacher, Business Leader, and Supervisor

Projects may take place over a longer or shorter period of time. Timelines are very flexible.
