What is a database?
A database is a collection of information organized so it's searchable. It's comprised of articles, photos, videos, websites, and primary sources.
Why use a database?
The Internet has a lot of information. It can be difficult to find articles and good information. There are lots of reasons to use a database instead of searching the Internet:
• Databases are usually reliable, fast, and full of useful information.
• Many articles in databases are "peer-reviewed" - that means experts have checked them for accuracy.
• You can limit your search by topic, date, format, reading level and other fields.
• Databases contain tools so you can easily e-mail, share, bookmark, download, translate, save, cite, or listen to your resource.
