With the support of CSforALL and the Software Engineering Program, Jr. (SEPjr), we offer a bevy of instruction to give our students a glimpse into the world of computer science, engineering, and the design process. We introduce students to major concepts and practices, such as programming, data collection and analysis, and computational thinking. Computer science education is not just a way to better understand the technology with which we interface daily - it also supports the use of logic and reasoning when solving any kind of problem.
At P.S. 175, we look forward to engaging students in hands-on learning academic problem-solving projects. Amplify Science is one of the major Science programs we use to allow students to be engaged in activities that help them figure out a compelling real-world problem! By centering science education on phenomena that students are motivated to explain, the focus of learning shifts from learning about a topic to figuring out how something happens. During these investigations, students can use several sources which include: writing explanations, modeling, simulations, active reading, and much more! Click on the tabs above to get started.
