About Me

My name is Ms. Ortiz! I am a special education teacher! I teach 6th-grade ELA & Social Studies over at M.S. 53 Brian Piccolo in Far Rockaway, Queens. I work in the ICT setting and with self-contained students. Once a week, I do a small group instructional pull-out with 7th-grade self-contained students for ELA.

I also do an academic excellence program after school on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings, where we essentially focus on test prep strategies and practice applying skills to different genres of texts.
