We are currently working on Unit 1: Discovering your voice. In this unit students will practice how to make themselves heard using writing, poetry and their voice. The book we will be reading this unit is Brown Girl Dreaming. Brown Girl Dreaming is a 2014 adolescent verse novel by author Jacqueline Woodson. It discusses the author's childhood as an African American growing up in the 1960s in South Carolina and New York.
Actualmente estamos trabajando en la Unidad 1: Descubriendo tu voz. En esta unidad, los estudiantes practicarán cómo hacerse escuchar usando la escritura, la poesía y su voz. About me / Acerca de mí
Hello! My name is Ms. Cox, and I am the special education ELA teacher for sixth grade. I am a recent graduate from Ohio University and have a passion for teaching reading. I believe that every student is capable of learning to read and write! All children are unique and must have a educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I work diligently to provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Sra. Cox y soy la maestra de ELA de educación especial de sexto grado. Me gradué recientemente de la Universidad de Ohio y me apasiona enseñar lectura. ¡Creo que cada estudiante es capaz de aprender a leer y escribir! Todos los niños son únicos y deben tener un ambiente educativo donde puedan crecer física, mental, emocional y socialmente.
