Hi! My name is Ms. Castillo. I was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. I went to school and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. However, not long after graduating, I realized that my heart and mind were asking me for something else. After volunteering to teach in my community, I decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in Education. In May of 2018, I graduated from Hunter College with a master’s degree in education with a bilingual extension; ¡y me encanta hablar en español, ya que es mi lengua nativa! 

This is the start of my eighth year as a math teacher and all first seven were at IS 162 as well. I love teaching because I enjoy seeing people learn from me. I get an immense feeling of accomplishment when I hear my students celebrate saying, "Ms. Castillo, I got it!" or seeing it on their faces. When I hear those words and see their reactions, I'm filled with great satisfaction, knowing I was able to make my kids more knowledgeable and seeing them gain faith in themselves.
