Hello! My name is Jossett Gayle, and I have proudly worked in the New York City School System since 2011. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach and support students at every level—from Pre-K to high school—which has given me a well-rounded perspective on how children grow and learn.
As a proud mom of three amazing kids, I also experience the school journey through the eyes of a parent—in elementary, in middle school, and in high school—so I truly understand the importance of communication, encouragement, and consistency across every grade.
I believe that every scholar deserves the opportunity to succeed, and I’m always excited to take on new challenges and adventures with my students. They inspire me daily and help me stay connected to the latest trends and ideas!
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and making this school year a positive, engaging, and memorable experience for all.
This Algebra curriculum, as well as the curricula in all John Dewey H.S. Math classes are built around complex and interesting math problems that we believe will help you strengthen the mathematics and problem-solving skills you already have while developing new skills. Students will learn how to apply algebraic ideas and operations to a variety of real-life situations, as well as explore complicated algebraic ideas. Students will also develop critical and creative thinking strategies in reasoning, problem solving, and demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of how mathematics can be used outside of the math classroom.
