Message from Our Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to Jackie Robinson School website. It is my sincere honor to serve as principal of PS 375, The Jackie Robinson School. Having lived in Brooklyn and served as an educator in District 17 for over 14 years, I am humbled to lead this dynamic institution. It is my desire to empower the scholars, teachers, families, and stakeholders.

The Jackie Robinson School is a special place. I am overjoyed to be in a position to positively impact the lives of students and teachers. I am adamant about providing our scholars with exceptional learning experiences, and I will be relentless in my effort to build teacher capacity. As an instructional leader, I will empower teachers to become reflective practitioners as they continue to grow professionally. I am also a firm believer in building positive school culture that permeates throughout the community.

We at the Jackie Robinson School are dedicated to developing a safe, culturally responsive environment, that supports the social emotional learning and the academic achievement of all students. The JRS community builds trust through teacher collaboration, inter-visitation, sharing strong practices, and our knowledge of students. We create a culturally responsive environment that encourages students to express and relate their own culture to what is learned in the classroom. We use standard based assessments and ongoing data to ensure all students achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

It is vital that we establish a strong relationship with our families to ensure the success of every student. I encourage you to participate in the PTA and attend school events regularly. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Mecca Geters
