Hello music educators and thank you for visiting the Teacher Models: Songwriting, Music Production and Composition web-site, brought to you in partnership with the NYC Office of Arts & Special Projects. This web-site shares educational materials developed by NYC arts educators Harold Stephan & Eric Dalio over the course of several years in real life NYC Public School classrooms.
Eric Dalio is a musician and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. He has spent a good part of the last two decades teaching music to middle and high school students in central Brooklyn.
Inspired by Project Based Learning and the iterative process of Design Thinking, Eric explores ways to design flexible classroom environments where student learning is driven by original music production, composition, and improvisation. He is passionate about using technology as a tool to facilitate learning experiences that enable multiple access points for students to create music.
Eric performs regularly on saxophones, flute, and clarinet. He plays a wide variety of styles ranging from European Classical to Jazz and Hip Hop. Over the past few years, he has been especially interested in the intersections of music from West Africa and Afro-Cuban styles.
